Hiya Chetia, M.Sc.

I graduated from UIC in 2023 and completed my thesis, which was concentrated on pedestrian safety during COVID-19 and its socioeconomic impacts, as part of my master’s degree. I was able to take part in 2 conferences (the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting 2024 and the Transportation Research Symposium 2025) with my research in the poster presentation category. I currently work as a transportation engineer at a civil engineering firm, primarily focusing on traffic and pedestrian safety, as well as geometric and signal design. I have contributed to various projects and gained hands-on experience, striving to improve transportation infrastructure, pedestrian safety, and vehicle mobility. I continue my work in transportation research and aim to develop the skills and experience needed to pursue a PhD in the future.
